Strategy, diagnostics and institutional transformation

Every solution beginswith a wayof seeing.

Equinexus is a global strategy, diagnostics and institutional transformation firm. We work with leaders to understand what is really shaping results, and rebuild strategy, governance, culture and leadership around the realities their institutions face.

Four connected areas of work

United Kingdom, Kenya and Zimbabwe. Working across Africa and internationally.

Our Work

One system, four ways in

Diagnostics, Advisory, Depthwork and Nexus Exchange are distinct routes into the same work. They can be commissioned separately or sequenced together.

Programmes are the participation and commissioning routes into this work, not a fifth practice area.

Difference

Institutional change and leadership practice, connected.

Institutions are shaped through strategies, structures and governance arrangements, but also through the judgement, relationships, authority, history and assumptions of the people working within them.

Institutional change can fail when it ignores the people carrying it. Leadership development can fail when it ignores the institution. Equinexus works on the relationship between the two.

Proprietary instruments

Before the next intervention, examine the picture behind it.

Our diagnostics compare formal accounts with lived experience, so leaders can see where the institutional picture is coherent, contested or too incomplete to act on.

SIGHTLINE

Test the picture informing high stakes decisions. SIGHTLINE compares formal accounts with lived experience across seven lines of sight.

Method

Nexus Arc®

Reveal, Reframe, Rebuild, Regenerate. A continuing cycle rather than a linear programme. Work can enter at any point and returns to review what held.

  1. 01

    Reveal

Examine evidence, experience, strengths and different interpretations. Establish what needs attention and what remains uncertain.

  2. 02

    Reframe

Test assumptions and explore alternative explanations or responses. Make a considered choice about how to proceed.

  3. 03

    Rebuild

Develop and implement agreed changes. Translate decisions into responsibilities, arrangements and practice.

  4. 04

    Regenerate

Review experience, learn and adapt. Strengthen the institution's ability to sustain useful practices and respond to change.

Perspective

Our African grounding shapes the questions we ask.

We draw on African intellectual traditions, including Sankofa, Ubuntu and Ma'at, alongside wider research and practice. This shapes what we pay attention to: history, relationships, authority, responsibility, context and whose knowledge informs consequential decisions.

Sankofa
What knowledge, history and experience are worth carrying forward?
Ubuntu
How are leadership and institutional life shaped through relationships?
Ma'at
How do truthfulness, balance and responsibility inform the exercise of power?

Our values

What shapes how we work.

Five commitments guide how we show up, make choices and work alongside leaders and institutions.

Liberation
We work toward systems where people can live and lead freely, fully, and without fear.
Wholeness
We honour both inner growth and external impact. Transformation begins within.
Courage
We invite truth-telling, risk-taking, and the strength to lead from the unknown.
Rootedness
We design with context, proximity, and lived experience at the core.
Co-Creation
We build in partnership. Never for, always with.

Depthwork® Leadership Intensive, Kigali

A four day, non residential leadership intensive for senior leaders. Depthwork examines the assumptions, inheritances and pressures that quietly govern how authority is exercised, and builds the practice to respond differently.

Organisational pathway · Commissioned

Health & Social Care Leadership Pathway

A scalable leadership pathway for organisations that need to strengthen capability across multiple leadership levels without flattening the differences between them.

The pathway combines diagnostics, practical learning, role specific application and organisational feedback so that leadership development supports both individual growth and wider system capability.
